Walking along Napoleon Ave. in search of a bathroom, my girlfriend’s sister, said “I’ve never seen anything like this in America.” And no, there isn't anything like it.

A colleague told me late last year, when I was feeling stuck creatively - photograph what you know. As a native New Orleanian, I've been to Mardi Gras for 26 years, photographed it for the last 5. When I bought tickets for this year's festivities, I knew it was the right time to photograph what I know - my city, my people.

Since I had not been since 2019, this Mardi Gras felt fresh and these photos feel as such.
